The announcement was made during a joint press conference held by the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali, in cooperation with local authorities and security and service departments in Najaf Province, marking the conclusion of the pilgrimage events and reviewing the main organizational, security, and humanitarian efforts carried out during the occasion.
Haider Al-Isawi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali and supervisor of million-visitor events, stated that the number of visitors who arrived in Najaf and gathered at the shrine of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) to commemorate the Prophet’s martyrdom reached five million.
He added that around 300 mourning processions participated in commemorating the solemn occasion around the shrine, while approximately 500 service processions provided various forms of assistance to visitors throughout the days of the pilgrimage.
The holy city of Najaf witnessed a massive influx of mourners from different Iraqi provinces and from abroad, who came to honor the memory of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) at the shrine of his successor and cousin, Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
The mourning and service processions played a major role in supporting visitors by providing meals, beverages, resting areas, and other essential services, contributing to the smooth organization of the large-scale religious gathering.
