Residents of the holy city of Karbala commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (peace be upon him) with a unified mourning procession held at the shrine of his brother al-Qasim ibn Imam Musa al-Kadhim (peace be upon them) in Babylon Province, coinciding with the final days of the month of Safar.
The shrine witnessed, over two consecutive days, a large influx of mourners and visitors from various Iraqi provinces, alongside the participation of numerous Hussaini mourning and service processions that gathered to honor the memory of Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and offer condolences on this solemn occasion.
The shrine administration stated that large numbers of visitors annually travel to the shrine of al-Qasim ibn Imam al-Kadhim (peace be upon them) to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and recall his life, virtues, and sacrifices.
The commemoration included the participation of Hussaini processions and visitors from inside and outside Iraq, with religious gatherings and mourning ceremonies highlighting the scholarly and spiritual status of Imam al-Ridha (peace be upon him), as well as the hardships he faced during the Abbasid era before his martyrdom.
The shrine administration also organized mourning councils and religious lectures addressing aspects of Imam al-Ridha’s blessed biography and his role in preserving the teachings of Islam.
It praised the wide participation of visitors and mourning groups, emphasizing that the continued observance of the commemorations of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) reflects the deep devotion, loyalty, and connection of believers to their teachings and legacy across generations.
