Symbolic Funeral Procession for Holy Prophet Held at Al-Askari Shrine in Samarra

A large gathering of mourners participated in a symbolic funeral procession for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) at the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Hadi and Imam al-Askari (peace be upon them) in Samarra, commemorating the anniversary of the Prophet’s passing.
The procession, organized by the Al-Askari Shrine’s service delegation, began from the House of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) located within the holy shrine complex, as mourners offered condolences on this solemn occasion.
According to reports from Samarra, the ceremony was attended by a large number of residents of the city as well as visitors to the shrine of the two Imams. The participants carried the symbolic coffin while chanting “O Muhammad,” expressing their grief and sorrow over the loss of the Prophet of Mercy (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
The mourners moved through the shrine’s courtyards in an atmosphere filled with devotion and mourning, recalling the life, sacrifices, and mission of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in spreading the message of Islam and guiding humanity.
The General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Askari extended its condolences to Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance), religious authorities, and the Muslim community on the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
In a statement, the shrine described the passing of the Prophet as one of the greatest tragedies in Islamic history, emphasizing his role as the Messenger of divine guidance, mercy, and light for humanity.
The Holy Shrine also announced that it had prepared special mourning and service programs to commemorate the occasion and welcome visitors arriving in Samarra to participate in the ceremonies.
