Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Arbaeen Pilgrimage Continues to Grow Despite Attempts to Restrict It
——————————
Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has said that the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) continues to expand and gain greater prominence year after year despite efforts aimed at limiting or suppressing the religious gathering.
In a statement, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi said that the Arbaeen pilgrimage has become “greater and more elevated than before,” with its influence and presence continuing to grow over time. He referred to a narration attributed to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) regarding attempts by opponents to erase the remembrance of Imam Hussein, saying that such efforts would ultimately lead to its greater visibility and prominence.
The religious authority stated that the continued increase in the number of participants and the expanding global reach of the Arbaeen pilgrimage represent an example of this principle, emphasizing that attempts to restrict the event have not prevented its continued spread and impact among Muslims worldwide.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi also prayed for the hastening of the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his noble reappearance), expressing hope that barriers preventing pilgrims from participating in the pilgrimage would be removed and that the path of Arbaeen would remain open for those wishing to commemorate the occasion.
