Kirkuk International Airport has begun receiving international visitors traveling to Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), marking the airport’s first-ever role as an entry point for pilgrims heading to the holy city of Karbala.

On Saturday, July 25, the airport welcomed pilgrims arriving from various countries around the world ahead of their journey to Karbala to commemorate Arbaeen.

The airport’s media office said that all necessary preparations and requirements had been completed to receive the pilgrims, including logistical services and facilities designed to ensure smooth arrival procedures and onward transportation.

The statement added that preparations were carried out in coordination with security agencies, service departments, and relevant authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors from the moment they arrive at the airport until their departure toward Karbala.

Kirkuk International Airport’s administration affirmed its commitment to using all available resources to serve Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) pilgrims and contribute to the success of the Arbaeen season, particularly amid the increasing number of foreign visitors arriving in Iraq through air and land routes.

The inclusion of Kirkuk International Airport among the official entry points for Arbaeen pilgrims represents an additional expansion of Iraq’s transportation network aimed at facilitating the arrival of international visitors and supporting the millions participating in the annual pilgrimage.
