Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Stresses Supporting Imam Hussein’s Cause, Serving His Pilgrims

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi has emphasized the great responsibility of supporting Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and serving his pilgrims, warning against neglecting this duty despite having the ability and resources to provide assistance.

The senior religious authority stated that “abandoning Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) is an unforgivable offense,” noting that those who fail to support him while being capable of doing so may fall under the warning contained in the supplication of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family): “O Allah, forsake those who forsake him.”

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi explained that the concept of support is not limited to a specific form of action, but includes everyone who has the ability to serve the cause of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his rituals, and his pilgrims. He stressed that failing to provide such support despite having the means represents a form of abandonment.

Addressing the Arbaeen pilgrimage season and the service provided to large crowds of pilgrims, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi called for maximum efforts to support visitors of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), meet their needs, and facilitate their journey to Karbala, emphasizing that negligence in serving them despite the ability to do so is a serious matter.

He also issued a stronger warning against harming pilgrims of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) or placing restrictions on them, stating that supporting the pilgrims is a duty and that those who neglect this responsibility despite their ability to help, especially those who harm pilgrims, bear an even greater burden.
