The Shia community in Montreal, Canada, held mourning ceremonies to commemorate the martyrdom of Lady Ruqayya (peace be upon her), with gatherings organized at the Imam Shirazi World Center and the Iranian Islamic Center in the city, attended by a group of believers.

The commemorations began with a special table dedicated to Lady Ruqayya (peace be upon her), followed by prayers, supplications, congregational prayer and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran in a spiritual atmosphere marked by sorrow and devotion to the family of the Prophet (peace be upon them).

The program also featured religious lectures highlighting the hardships endured by the family of the Prophet (peace be upon them) after the tragedy of Karbala, while discussing the lessons of patience, steadfastness and faith reflected in the life of Lady Ruqayya (peace be upon her).

The ceremony concluded with elegy recitations and lamentations, followed by refreshments for attendees. The event was part of a series of religious and cultural programs organized by Islamic centers in Montreal to promote awareness of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) and strengthen the community’s connection to their teachings and values.
