Muharram Mourning Ceremonies Conclude at Shirazi-Affiliated Centers in Kuwait and Kabul

Muharram mourning ceremonies held at two centers affiliated with the Shirazi religious authority in Kuwait and Afghanistan have concluded after days of religious programs commemorating Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and the martyrs of Karbala.

In Kuwait, the mourning ceremonies that began at the start of Muharram at the home of Ayatollah Sayyid Ahmad Shirazi, son of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, concluded on the night of the 18th of Muharram.

The gatherings continued for 18 nights and were attended by dozens of religious and cultural figures, as well as Husseini mourners. Speakers addressed the dimensions of the Karbala uprising and the life and teachings of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, while participants held mourning rituals in memory of the martyrs of Karbala.

In Kabul, Husseini mourning ceremonies were also held at the Lady Fatima al-Zahra Complex, peace be upon her, one of the centers affiliated with Grand Ayatollah Shirazi. The programs were attended by female seminary students, mourners, and followers of the school of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them.

The ceremonies continued during the first and second ten days of Muharram. During the programs, Hujjat al-Islam Husseini delivered lectures on Islamic teachings, the philosophy of Imam Hussein’s uprising, peace be upon him, and the lessons of Ashura.

Participants in both Kuwait and Kabul commemorated Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his loyal companions, renewing their attachment to the message of Karbala and the values of sacrifice, faith, and steadfastness.
