World Nonviolence Organization Urges NATO Leaders to Act on Human Rights Protection in Syria

The World Nonviolence Organization, known as FreeMuslim, has appealed to leaders participating in the NATO meeting to take urgent steps to protect human rights in Syria and address violations targeting civilians, particularly minorities and different social components.
In its message, the organization said the humanitarian and human rights situation in Syria remains a source of serious concern, pointing to continued violations and rising crimes against communities amid a security environment it described as still affected by extremist ideology.
The organization said Syria faces major challenges after years of conflict and called for reforming security and military institutions, preventing impunity, and strengthening the rule of law and respect for human rights.
It urged NATO leaders to pressure the Syrian authorities to take immediate measures to remove from security and military institutions any individuals involved in violations or sectarian incitement, and to ensure accountability for those responsible.
The organization also called for practical steps to protect religious and ethnic minorities, provide international guarantees against violence or discrimination, and adopt equal citizenship free from sectarianism or racism as a foundation for stability.
