Lynda Voltz, Member for Auburn in the New South Wales Parliament, has extended her wishes to the Shia Muslim community at the beginning of Muharram.
In a message shared on her Facebook page, Voltz wished members of the community a peaceful and reflective Muharram, acknowledging the sacred period observed by Shia Muslims.
The message highlighted the importance of Muharram as a time of remembrance, reflection, and community solidarity, particularly for followers of Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, who commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, during the month.
Voltz’s remarks come as Shia communities in Australia and around the world hold mourning gatherings and religious programs to mark the days of Muharram and prepare for Ashura commemorations.
In her message she mentioned a number of Shia centers in the region active in promoting the rituals of Muharram, including the Ale Yasin Husseiniya and Mosque, a cultural religious center affiliated with Supreme Marja Grand Ayatullah Shirazi.
