Punjab Tightens Monitoring for Muharram Security

Punjab Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique said the provincial government has implemented strict security and monitoring measures to ensure peace during Muharram-ul-Haram across Punjab.
Speaking during a visit to the Home Department’s central control room in Lahore, Rafique reviewed live surveillance of major processions and religious gatherings being held across the province. He also contacted district control rooms to assess security arrangements and field operations.
The minister said more than 37,000 majalis and over 9,400 processions are being monitored under a coordinated security plan. He added that major gathering sites and procession routes have been geo-tagged on digital maps and placed under continuous camera surveillance.
Rafique also visited the Home Department’s Digital Media Cell, where he was briefed on cyber patrolling and rapid response measures. He said the Cyber Patrol Cell is taking action against social media accounts spreading sectarian hatred, including blocking accounts and pursuing legal action.
He directed officials to fully implement Home Department regulations to maintain law and order during Muharram.
