Shia Muslims worldwide observed the 23rd of Dhu al-Hijjah, marking the tragic martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad and Ibrahim, the young sons of Muslim bin Aqil, peace be upon them all.

According to historical texts like Bihar al-Anwar, the children of Imam Hussain’s emissary were captured after the Battle of Karbala and endured a year of harsh imprisonment under the Umayyad governor, Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad, may the eternal wrath of God be upon him. Following a brief escape, they were betrayed, recaptured, and executed on the banks of the Euphrates River.

Today, their joint shrine in Musayyip, Iraq—located near Karbala—serves as a major pilgrimage destination where annual mourning rituals honor the family’s deep historical sacrifices.
