Indian Pharmacists Hold Nationwide Strike Over Online Pharmacies
——————————
More than one million pharmacists and pharmacy owners across India staged a 24-hour strike to protest the expansion of online pharmacies and the lack of a clear legal framework regulating them.
Pharmacists warned about uncontrolled discounts, incorrect prescription handling, and the possible sale of counterfeit medicines through online platforms.
According to Fana, the strike was organized in protest against the activities of instant medicine-delivery platforms.
Khaleej Times reported that protesters called for online pharmacy services to be regulated in the same way as physical pharmacies, including stronger oversight and legal accountability.
