The fifth International Seminar on Islamic Culture and Civilization was held in Kocaeli, northwestern Turkey, focusing on strategies to combat Islamophobia and safeguard the rights of Muslim communities.
The seminar examined the challenges faced by Muslims living in non-Muslim societies, particularly regarding the preservation of their religious and cultural identity. According to Muslims Around the World, over 30 researchers from 15 countries participated, with the event organized in collaboration with Turkish academic and humanitarian institutions.
Participants stressed the importance of promoting scholarly and interfaith dialogue to reduce cultural tensions and address the rising trend of anti-Muslim sentiment in some countries. The Turkish news agency Anatolia reported that discussions also covered the integration of Muslims into multicultural societies without compromising their religious identity, and the role of academic and religious institutions in protecting the rights of Muslim minorities.
The seminar featured presentations on contemporary applications of Islamic jurisprudence and social practices, highlighting how religious institutions adapt teachings to modern societal conditions.
The event concluded with a series of recommendations to strengthen scientific and religious collaboration, enhance support for Muslims in host countries, and foster greater communication between Islamic centers worldwide.
