TikTok Soap Seller Funds Mother’s Hajj Pilgrimage Through Livestream Sales

Dr. Fatima Al-Zahra Ditti, a family medicine specialist, has successfully sent her mother to Hajj after raising the pilgrimage funds through TikTok live-stream sales of handmade soaps, IQNA reported.

Ditti, 33, promised her mother that she would cover the cost of the pilgrimage within a year. Facing the challenge of saving tens of thousands of pesos each month, she turned to TikTok to share her story. Encouraged by a follower’s suggestion, she began selling soaps on livestreams, dedicating four hours nightly after work to reach a global audience. Over several months, she sold more than 6,000 soaps, earning enough to cover the 350,000-peso cost of the Hajj.

Her online community, known as “Kulotism,” provided early support, connecting with her journey as a first-generation doctor and family breadwinner. Ditti has been supporting her four siblings since her father’s death in 2017, often sharing the struggles her family faced despite her professional career.

On May 4, Ditti’s mother, Mimbung, 61, departed Manila for Saudi Arabia to join the pilgrimage. Ditti said the success of her campaign demonstrated that sincere intentions and community support can help realize long-held dreams, highlighting the growing impact of social media platforms for crowdfunding personal initiatives.
