————————————-
At least four people have died and dozens more have been injured following heavy rainfall that triggered widespread flooding and landslides in the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil, according to local media reports.
On Saturday, May 2, CNN Brazil reported that the situation in the state capital, Recife, and its surrounding areas remains the most critical. Continuous rainfall caused landslides in mountainous areas, leading to the collapse of several residential buildings. Additionally, major highways were flooded, severely disrupting traffic in multiple regions.
Sources confirmed that the current death toll stands at four, with emergency services still working to confirm the exact number of the injured. Hospitals are operating at full capacity, treating the injured and providing necessary medical care.
Firefighters and civil defense teams are actively engaged in search and rescue operations in the worst-hit areas. Authorities are also carrying out evacuation operations for residents in high-risk zones. With rainfall expected to continue in the coming hours, there are warnings of additional hazards and further risk of landslides.
