Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Calls for Reviving Imam al-Sadiq’s Martyrdom with a Global “Sadiqi” Culture

As the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) approaches, the Supreme Shia religious authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadeq al-Shirazi, emphasized the necessity of venerating God’s sacred symbols and holding commemorative ceremonies for the occasion, highlighting their role in promoting what he terms a “Sadiqi culture” on a global scale.
His remarks were published on the official website of his office ahead of the Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) martyrdom anniversary, which falls on the 25th of the holy month of Shawwal. This commemoration holds special significance for followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated: “On the occasion of Imam al-Sadiq’s martyrdom, it is incumbent upon everyone to exalt God’s sacred symbols, hold mourning ceremonies across the world, and proclaim the ‘Sadiqi culture,’ which truly reflects the authentic culture of Islam, the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), and the legacy of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). It is a culture of security, reassurance, and goodness for all.”
He reiterated the importance of commemorating events related to the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), whether joyous or sorrowful, stressing that these are not merely historical occurrences but pivotal spiritual and educational moments. Believers, he noted, draw from them religious and moral guidance while renewing their connection to the life, teachings, and path of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
