The head of the Shiite institution of the Universal Muslims of America Association (UMAA) announced consultations with Syrian officials as part of efforts to implement a project for the restoration of the Shrine of Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her).
In a video statement, the UMAA official said that in recent months the association has held discussions with current and former officials of the US Department of State, as well as with Syrian leaders in Damascus, in connection with plans to revive and rehabilitate the shrine.
According to Shia Waves Agency, the head of the association, referring to concerns among Shiites worldwide over the condition of the holy shrine, said the talks aim to ensure the shrine’s security, facilitate safe pilgrimage, and support the surrounding local community. He also announced that the first group of pilgrims is expected to be dispatched in the coming months.
