UK Conservatives Debate Possible Restrictions on Face-Covering Clothing and Hijab
—————————————–
Nick Timothy, a shadow cabinet justice secretary, has criticized face-covering clothing and said the UK Conservative Party could consider restrictions similar to measures adopted in several European countries, according to The Times.

Speaking at an event held on the sidelines of the Conservative Party conference, Timothy also raised the issue of hijab in state-funded schools, although he did not announce any specific policy or proposed restrictions.

Fiyaz Mughal, founder of the organization Faith Matters, said the debate should avoid disproportionately targeting Muslim women who wear face-covering clothing. He noted that such women can face increased exposure to anti-Muslim hate incidents and their consequences.
