Volunteer Aid from “Who Is Hussain?” Reaches Flood-Hit Families in Baltistan Ahead of Harsh Winter

Volunteers from the international humanitarian organization Who Is Hussain? have launched emergency assistance efforts in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region, distributing winter supplies to families severely affected by recent flooding as the area braces for an exceptionally cold winter.
According to Dawn, the organization’s local volunteers delivered essential heating items and other relief materials to vulnerable households whose homes and livelihoods were damaged during the floods. The aid aims to help residents withstand the sharp temperature drop expected in the coming weeks.
Volunteers noted that rapid response to basic needs—especially in remote, disaster-stricken mountain communities—can prevent a deeper humanitarian crisis. They emphasized that relief activities will continue in the weeks ahead, with a focus on reaching isolated families before winter conditions worsen.
The Baltistan region, prone to seasonal flooding and harsh winters, has seen repeated disruptions to infrastructure and food security in recent years, making timely civil-society support critical for affected communities.
