Tokyo is preparing to host the 26th edition of the Japan Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition in 2025, an annual event organized by the Islamic Da’wah Association in Japan to promote engagement with the Quran and support memorization and recitation among Muslims across the country.

According to the organizers, the preliminary round will be held online on 14 December 2025 via Zoom, while the final round is scheduled to take place in person at Tokyo Mosque and the Turkish Cultural Center in Shibuya on 30–31 December. The event will include an opening ceremony, competition sessions, and an awards presentation.

Registration is open until 8 December 2025 for Muslims of all nationalities residing in Japan, with no entry fee required. The competition offers multiple categories for children up to age 15—ranging from participants who have memorized a single surah to those who have memorized the entire Quran.

A separate adult category includes full Quran memorization. Organizers expect strong participation, noting that the competition aims to strengthen Quranic learning and foster improved recitation skills under the theme, “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.”
