Pakistan: Blast at Faisalabad Gas Balloon Factory Kills 18
……….
At least 18 people were killed and 21 others injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a gas balloon factory in Faisalabad, Pakistan, on Friday, Khaama Press reported. The blast destroyed the facility, damaged nearby homes and triggered a large fire that emergency crews battled for hours.
Officials said the cause of the explosion is still under investigation, though early indications point to a possible gas leak. Police have detained the factory manager, while the owner remains missing after allegedly fleeing the scene. Punjab Police Chief Usman Anwar confirmed that investigators are examining potential safety violations.
Authorities are also reviewing how the factory was allowed to operate in a residential area, raising concerns over zoning breaches. The incident has renewed scrutiny of industrial safety standards in Pakistan, highlighting longstanding issues around enforcement and oversight.
