China on Monday successfully launched a new remote sensing satellite, Yaogan-46, from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan province, according to state-run Xinhua News Agency.
The satellite was lifted into orbit at 11:47 a.m. local time (0347 GMT) aboard a Long March-7 carrier rocket, which placed it into its designated orbit shortly after launch.
Designed for disaster prevention and relief, land resource management, hydrology, and meteorological monitoring, the Yaogan-46 will enhance China’s capacity for environmental observation and emergency response.
The mission marked the 605th flight of the Long March rocket series, underscoring the growing reliability and pace of China’s space program.
China continues to expand its remote sensing satellite network under the Yaogan series, which supports both civilian and national development applications, including mapping, agricultural planning, and disaster assessment.
