Spain Launches First National Guide to Combat Islamophobia
…………….
Spain has introduced its first-ever national guide to counter Islamophobia and dispel misinformation about Islam and Muslims, En.Abna24 reported. The initiative, the first of its kind in Europe, aims to challenge rising hate speech and racism targeting Muslim migrants in public debates and online spaces.
Drawing on official data, the guide rejects common myths about migration, showing that foreign residents contribute about 10 percent of Spain’s social security income but account for only 1 percent of public spending. It adds that migrants generate a net annual benefit of €1,600 per person, with public costs 32 percent lower than those of citizens.
The document highlights that migrants have a higher employment rate than locals—69.3 percent versus 56.4 percent—and play key roles in agriculture, construction, and tourism. It also records more than 600,000 anti-Muslim online posts in 2025. Al-Azhar Observatory praised Spain’s effort as a model for coexistence.
