Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Al-Hussaini Al-Shirazi emphasized that a truly just ruler must equate their standard of living with that of the weakest citizens, adhering to the divine mandate of equity. He cited the example of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), who embodied this principle after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family).

His Eminence referenced Imam Ali’s statement in Nahj al-Balagha: “Indeed, God has made it incumbent upon the Imams of Justice to measure themselves against the poor people.” Grand Ayatollah Shirazi asserted that these words form a timeless constitutional guideline for all those in power.

He stressed that a just leader must share the struggles of the deprived, avoiding opulence while the public suffers. He urged rulers, especially in Islamic nations, to follow the compassionate and equitable governance model established by the Prophet and Imam Ali.
