Grand Ayatollah Shirazi Highlights Role of Religious Institutions in Addressing Social Crises
……………
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Al-Husayni Al-Shirazi emphasized that many contemporary social challenges stem from the diminished role of religious institutions and the preoccupation of influential individuals with trivial matters. In statements published by his official office, the Grand Marja cited rising divorce rates, widespread drug abuse, and alarming unemployment as examples of societal problems exacerbated by limited religious engagement in social affairs.
His Eminence stressed that addressing these issues requires prioritizing community welfare, particularly guiding and supporting youth toward constructive paths. He urged adherence to the teachings of the Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) as a framework for moral and social reform. According to the grand cleric, strengthening the involvement of religious authorities in societal matters is essential for promoting both individual well-being and the broader good of the community.
