Kuwait Sees Sharp Rise in Citizenship Revocations Due to Fraud
———————
Kuwaiti official sources have announced a significant increase in the detection of fraud related to obtaining citizenship, with the number of cases discovered in the first nine months of 2025 being three times the total number of similar cases found in all of 2024.
According to the newspaper Al-Rai, citing informed sources, the average number of citizenship revocations addressed in the sessions of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship Review has jumped from around 100 cases last year to 350 cases this year.
Middle East News reports that based on current trends, the total number of individuals whose citizenship is revoked by the end of the year is expected to be four times that of the previous year.
Authorities stress that revocations are strictly carried out only in cases with definitive documentation of fraud, ensuring that reviews are conducted with utmost precision.
