One Dead, Several Injured in Armed Attack on Michigan Church
…………..
An armed attack at a church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, left one person dead and at least ten others injured on Sunday morning. Authorities said a 40-year-old man from Burton drove his car into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before opening fire on worshippers during a service. The suspect was later confirmed dead following an exchange of gunfire with responding officers.
Grand Blanc Police Chief William Renye stated that the assailant appeared to be carrying an assault-style rifle. The incident also triggered a fire inside the building, with emergency crews still searching the debris for possible victims. Several of the injured were transported to Henry Ford Hospital, some in critical condition.
Footage from the scene showed heavy smoke rising as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. In a statement, the church urged cooperation with local authorities. U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the attack as “horrific,” while the FBI and ATF joined local law enforcement in the investigation. The town of Grand Blanc, about 60 miles northwest of Detroit, has a population of roughly 7,700.
