Nepal’s Prime Minister Resigns Amid Deadly Protests
—————————-
Nepal’s Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, has resigned following widespread and deadly protests sparked by a government ban on social media apps, according to a report from The Guardian. The unrest, which was initially triggered by the social media ban, quickly escalated into a larger movement against political corruption and nepotism.

The protests, described as some of the worst the country has seen in decades, resulted in the deaths of 19 people and left hundreds injured after police used deadly force against demonstrators. Even after the government reversed its ban on platforms like Facebook and YouTube, the protests continued and intensified, culminating in thousands of demonstrators storming and setting fire to the federal parliament building in Kathmandu.
