The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that more than 12,000 people have been displaced in Yemen over the past eight months due to deteriorating humanitarian conditions and ongoing conflict compounded by climate-related factors.

IOM’s displacement tracking matrix recorded the movement of over 2,000 families, totaling more than 12,000 individuals, between January 1 and August 31. Recent floods and harsh weather have intensified internal displacement, with 64 families—approximately 384 people—displaced in just the past week.

Most recent displacements were concentrated in the cities of Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Marib, and Sana’a, with Taiz receiving 28 families, Marib 21, and Al Hudaydah 15. The report highlights the complex interplay of conflict and environmental factors driving Yemen’s ongoing humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for sustained support to affected populations.
