German Authorities Report High Cases of Child Sexual Abuse in 2024

German authorities documented 16,354 suspected cases of child sexual abuse involving 18,085 victims in 2024, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the statement, cases related to child pornography increased by 8.5% to 9,601. Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt announced plans for legislation requiring internet providers to store user IP addresses longer to help identify perpetrators.

BKA chief Holger Munch noted that while cases slightly decreased from the previous year, numbers remain above the five-year average, with most offenders being men known to the victims.
