Heavy Flooding in Aden Leaves Injuries and Major Damage
…………….

Several people were injured and significant property damage was reported Tuesday after heavy rains triggered flash floods in Yemen’s southern city of Aden. Witnesses said torrential downpours swept through multiple neighborhoods, submerging homes and shops and disrupting traffic, particularly in the Al-Mualla district. The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

The local Media Office stated that Governor Ahmed Hamed Lamlas directed health authorities to provide full medical care to the injured at the expense of the local government. Officials described the response as part of urgent humanitarian measures following the severe weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Meteorology forecast further rainfall in parts of the eastern and southwestern coasts, as well as along the Red Sea shore. Authorities urged residents to exercise caution, avoid flood channels and valleys, and stay off muddy, slippery roads. Yemen’s fragile infrastructure, weakened by more than a decade of conflict, has left communities particularly vulnerable to the impact of seasonal floods.
