Sudanese Aid Worker Returns to Darfur After Displacement
——————————-
Adam Ibrahim, a United Nations humanitarian worker in Sudan, was forced to flee his home with his family when conflict erupted in 2023. Like thousands of others, he became displaced amid one of the world’s most complex humanitarian crises.

According to the UN, more than half of Sudan’s population — about 30.4 million people — now require urgent assistance. Yet only 13.3 percent of the necessary humanitarian funding has been secured, leaving millions without essential support.

Despite his own displacement, Ibrahim made the decision to return to Darfur to aid conflict-affected communities. Speaking on World Humanitarian Day (August 19), he reflected on his personal journey of fleeing violence, enduring life as a displaced person, and choosing to serve others in dire need.

His story underscores both the resilience of humanitarian workers and the vital role they play in responding to global crises. It also highlights the spirit of solidarity and the importance of continuing aid efforts despite limited resources.
