UN says violence in Iraq killed over 1,300 in July
It also said that Baghdad was the province worst hit by violence, with 335 deaths
The UN mission to Iraq said Saturday that at least 1,300 people, mostly civilians, were martyred in the country last month.
The death toll includes at least 844 civilians, and 488 members of Iraqi security forces and Shia fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units.
It also said that Baghdad was the province worst hit by violence, with 335 deaths.
The UN put the number of those wounded in violence in July at 2,108.
Adding, “There had been a slight drop of violence in July as compared to June, when at least 1,466 deaths and 1,687 injuries were recorded across Iraq.”
