At least 69 people have died and 31 remain missing in Himachal Pradesh, northern India, following days of heavy monsoon rains, multiple cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the state’s Emergency Operations Centre, 43 deaths were directly caused by flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts during the ongoing monsoon season. An additional 26 fatalities resulted from road accidents linked to hazardous weather conditions. The center also confirmed that 110 people have been injured.

The monsoon season, which typically spans from June to September across India and Pakistan, has hit Himachal Pradesh particularly hard since mid-June, with persistent heavy rainfall triggering severe natural disasters that have disrupted daily life and damaged infrastructure.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stated that relief operations are actively underway in affected areas to assist victims and restore normalcy. Authorities continue search and rescue efforts for the missing while working to provide emergency aid to displaced residents.

The state remains on high alert as monsoon rains are expected to continue over the coming weeks.
