Three Palestinian journalists were killed Thursday in an Israeli drone strike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, raising the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 225, Anadolu Agency reported.

The media office condemned the attacks as systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and urged international press organizations to denounce the violence. They also called on the global community to pressure Israel to halt what they described as a genocide in Gaza and to protect journalists.

The strike occurred one day after the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council draft resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution, proposed by Slovenia on behalf of ten elected Security Council members, received 14 votes in favor.

Since October 2023, Israel has conducted a military offensive in Gaza that has killed nearly 54,700 Palestinians, many of whom are women and children. Aid agencies warn of an impending famine among Gaza’s population of over two million.

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders over alleged war crimes, and Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice.
