Critical Shortages and Hunger Hamper Medical Care in Gaza Amid Israeli Attacks
————————————
Palestinian medics in Gaza are struggling to treat patients amid severe shortages of blood donations, medical supplies, and essential resources due to widespread hunger and malnutrition, Arab News reported. Appeals for blood donations have largely gone unanswered, as nearly 2 million Palestinians face imminent risk of starvation following Israeli restrictions on humanitarian aid since March.

Hospitals across Gaza report critical shortages of medications, surgical supplies, and diagnostic equipment, severely limiting emergency care. Operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency departments are overwhelmed by a rising number of critically injured patients, while fuel shortages threaten power generation needed for medical facilities.

Palestinian medical sources revealed that 41 percent of kidney failure patients have died since October 2023, exacerbated by ongoing attacks and aid restrictions. The recent destruction of the Noura Al-Kaabi Dialysis Center, one of the few specialized facilities serving 160 patients in northern Gaza, further compounds the crisis.

Medical staff warn that the deteriorating conditions endanger lives and call for urgent humanitarian access to support Gaza’s strained health system.
