UK Far-Right Activist Tommy Robinson Faces Harassment Charges

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, the controversial British far-right activist better known as Tommy Robinson, has been charged with harassment causing fear of violence against two men, prosecutors announced on Wednesday, Arab News reported. The alleged incidents occurred between August 5–7, 2024, during nationwide riots sparked by anti-immigration protests following the murder of three girls in Southport, England.

Robinson, the founder of the anti-Islam English Defence League (EDL), is currently serving a prison sentence for contempt of court but is set for early release next week. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the new charges after a Metropolitan Police investigation.

Known for his inflammatory rhetoric, Robinson—who portrays himself as an anti-establishment journalist—has drawn support from figures like Elon Musk. Critics, including media and politicians, accuse him of exacerbating tensions during last year’s unrest. The CPS emphasized the seriousness of the harassment charges, which could lead to further legal consequences upon his release.
