Lengthy queues, flight delays hit Stansted Airport following IT issue

On Sunday morning, passengers at London Stansted Airport encountered significant disruptions caused by an IT failure that affected check-in, baggage handling, and security systems, The Guardian reported. The Essex airport confirmed the issue early in the day, leading to long queues, flight delays, and some travelers missing their flights. Although the problem was later resolved, the airport advised passengers to stay in contact with their airlines due to ongoing delays.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Stansted Airport said its teams were working hard to restore full operations and apologized for the inconvenience. A spokesperson clarified that no flights were canceled as a result of the IT disruption, which appeared to be linked to internet access problems affecting certain systems. The airport is investigating the root cause.

Social media posts showed crowded terminals and slow-moving queues. The airport promised further updates as it worked to prevent similar issues in the future, emphasizing its commitment to passenger safety and service.
