Widespread outrage after former GOP candidate disrupts Muslim event in Texas with anti-Islam remarks

Valentina Gomez, a former Republican congressional candidate, sparked widespread outrage after disrupting a peaceful Muslim gathering in Texas and making openly anti-Islamic remarks. The incident occurred outside the Texas State Capitol, where Muslim community members had organized a peaceful event.
Gomez, disguised in Islamic attire, infiltrated the gathering, seized the microphone from organizers, and shouted offensive and hostile statements about Islam. She was swiftly removed from the scene by organizers and security personnel.
In a further escalation, Gomez posted a video of the incident on her X (formerly Twitter) account, captioning it with the words: “There is no place for Muslims in Texas.” Human rights advocates and activists condemned the statement as a clear expression of religious hate.
The episode drew strong condemnation from Muslim communities across the U.S. and abroad. Many viewed it as part of a growing trend of Islamophobia and incitement against religious minorities.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other civil rights organizations denounced the incident as “racist and anti-religious,” urging legal action against Gomez for promoting hate speech. Gomez is known for her hardline rhetoric and past involvement in the pro-Trump “Make America Great Again” movement.
