Muslims worldwide celebrate blessed birth anniversary of Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba

As the holy month of Ramadan reaches its midpoint, Muslims around the world commemorate the birth anniversary of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him), honoring his legacy of patience, wisdom, and generosity.
Born on the 15th of Ramadan in Medina, Imam Hasan was the eldest son of Imam Ali and Sayyeda Fatima, the daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

As the second Shia Imam, he succeeded his father, Amir al-Momineen, and, alongside his brother Imam Hussein, was described by the Prophet as a “Master of the youth of Paradise.”
Imam Hasan was among the Five “Companions of the Cloak,” honored in the Quranic verse of Tatheer, and played a key role in the Event of Mubahala, representing the “Sons of Prophethood.”

His contributions extended to the battlefield, notably in the Battle of Jamal, where he fought alongside his father against the forces of Nakithin.
Following his father’s martyrdom, Imam Hasan assumed leadership of the Muslim community during a time of political turmoil. Facing opposition from Muawiya, he initially prepared for battle but was ultimately compelled to sign a treaty after many of his commanders defected. The agreement exposed Muawiya’s true intentions, as he failed to uphold its terms and continued to divert from Islamic teachings.

Renowned for his generosity, Imam Hasan regularly opened his home to visitors, provided food and aid to those in need, and never turned away a request for help. His legacy remains a source of inspiration for millions, as communities mark his birth anniversary with acts of charity and remembrance.
