SRW calls for urgent action to halt massacres against Alawites in Syria

Shia Rights Watch (SRW)—a international pro-Shia rights organization—has urged the global community to take immediate action to stop massacres targeting Shia Muslims from the Alawite sect in Syria. The organization called for condemning these crimes and holding those responsible accountable.

In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, SRW reported that armed extremist groups had recently committed a series of massacres against unarmed civilians, including children, women, and men, while also destroying and burning properties in western Syria.

Preliminary data indicates that nearly 4,000 civilians have been executed on sectarian grounds in a significant escalation of previous sporadic attacks on villages in Syria’s coastal regions. The organization noted that it had repeatedly warned of the worsening situation in recent months and highlighted the continued severe violations amid a noticeable media blackout affecting Shia Muslims in general and Alawites in particular.

Shia Rights Watch held the international community legally, morally, and ethically responsible for these massacres, stressing that international law permits immediate intervention through the UN Security Council under Chapter VII, making action an obligation for all UN member states.

The organization called for decisive measures to end these attacks, warning that continued inaction would reinforce impunity and encourage further crimes against religious minorities in the region.
