Punjab CTD Arrests 10 Terrorists in 73 Operations

Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 10 terrorists during 73 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across the province, Dawn newspaper reported. The operations were conducted in various cities, including Rawalpindi, Khushab, and Jhelum, in response to heightened terror threats.
The CTD spokesperson confirmed that two dangerous terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were apprehended in Khushab and Jhelum. Authorities recovered explosives, an IED, detonators, safety fuse wire, cash, and mobile phones during the raids.
In addition to the arrests, 107 suspects were detained during 758 combing operations, with over 30,000 individuals questioned in the past week. The recent surge in terror activities has raised concerns, particularly following the TTP’s end of a ceasefire in November 2022.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the police for their efforts in thwarting a potential attack by TTP affiliates, highlighting the bravery and professionalism of the law enforcement officers involved.
