National Syria Gathering Conference Marks New Era for Reconstruction

The National Syria Gathering held its inaugural conference in Damascus, attended by over 100 Syrian businessmen, marking a significant return after seven years in exile, Anadolu Agency reported. Finance Minister Mohamed Abazid opened the event, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a transparent tax system and strategic partnerships to revitalize the economy.
Key discussions focused on vital sectors including education, health, technology, and agriculture, with Agriculture Minister Mohammad Taha Al-Ahmad highlighting Syria’s unique agricultural exports. Moufid Karameh, head of the Gathering, called for collective efforts from all Syrians to rebuild the nation, while co-founder Tamer Al-Tunsi urged entrepreneurs to leverage international connections to support government reforms.
The conference also prioritized immediate humanitarian aid and proposed the establishment of a supreme education council to enhance educational policies. Committees were formed to ensure that the conference’s vision translates into actionable plans, aiming for a prosperous and independent Syria.
