More Than 30 Naxal Rebels Killed in India

At least 31 Naxal rebels were killed in a confrontation with security forces in Chhattisgarh, India, Anadolu Agency reported. The encounter took place in Bijapur district during a “major operation,” as reported by state-owned Doordarshan News. Senior police official Sundarraj P confirmed that two security personnel also lost their lives in the clash.

This incident follows a previous gun battle last month, where 14 Maoist rebels, known as Naxals, were killed near the border of central Chhattisgarh and eastern Orissa states. The Naxal insurgent group, inspired by far-left radical communism and Maoist ideology, has been active for over three decades, advocating for the rights of tribal populations in the region. The Indian government has stated its goal to eliminate the insurgency by March 2026.
