Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Urges Protection for Religious Minorities
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has emphasized the need to protect the rights of religious minorities in Bangladesh, warning that the country’s global image could suffer if such protections fail, Deccan Herald reported.
During a high-level Monday meeting with security chiefs Yunus directed law enforcement to implement special measures to prevent attacks on minorities and ensure public safety.
He proposed establishing a command center to enhance coordination among police and security agencies, urging them to utilize advanced communication tools for rapid response. Yunus highlighted recent violence against Hindus and other minority groups, particularly following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
The meeting included key security officials, including the Home Adviser and chiefs of various law enforcement agencies, who were instructed to remain alert to potential disturbances in law and order.
