Kurram DC Orders TDP Camps Amid Expected Security Operation

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kurram has ordered the establishment of camps for temporarily displaced persons (TDP) in Lower Kurram tehsil, anticipating a counterterrorism operation by law enforcement agencies, Dawn Newspaper reported.

This decision follows recent attacks on aid convoys heading to Parachinar, which is experiencing shortages of food and medicine due to road blockades.

The order, issued on Friday, outlines plans to relocate over 1,000 families from various areas, including Baggan and Mandori. Proposed camp sites include government educational institutions to provide safety and support during the operation.

Recent violence in the region has resulted in significant casualties, including two security personnel killed and several others injured during a convoy attack. Local protests continue in Bagan, where residents demand reconstruction and compensation for losses incurred from previous attacks. They have vowed to prevent convoys from reaching Parachinar until their demands are addressed.
