Bomb Threat at Aligarh Muslim University Triggers Investigation

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) received a bomb threat via email today, demanding a ransom of ₹2 lakh (approximately $2,330 USD), Hindustan Times reported today.

Following the threat, university officials promptly alerted the police, leading to a comprehensive search operation across the campus. Authorities deployed a bomb disposal unit, a dog squad, and cyber teams to trace the origin of the email.

The search focused on key areas of the campus but did not uncover any suspicious objects. AMU’s Proctor, Professor Mohd Wasim Ali, confirmed that safety measures are being prioritized for students and staff during the ongoing investigation. Police and university administration are collaborating closely to ensure campus safety, urging students and faculty to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
