Ayatollah Shirazi: Enjoining good and forbidding evil may require self-sacrifice to protect core religious principles

The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, emphasized that enjoining good and forbidding evil could become duties requiring self-sacrifice, particularly when the foundational principles of religion are at risk.

The Grand Marja’s remarks were published on his official website as part of commemorating the martyrdom of Sayyeda Fatimah al-Zahra, peace be upon her, as per the narration of her passing 95 days after the passing of her father, Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family.

Grand Ayatollah Shirazi highlighted Sayyeda Fatimah al-Zahra’s ultimate example of this principle, noting that she sacrificed her life in defense of Islamic values, pointing out that her steadfastness against injustice and deviation led to the loss of her unborn child, Al-Muhsin, peace be upon him.

It should be mentioned that his Eminence places significant importance on commemorating Sayyeda Fatimah al-Zahra, describing her as a paragon of faith and piety, embodying the true essence of Islam, stressing that she is not merely a symbol of patience and endurance but also a role model in defending Islamic principles under the most challenging circumstances.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi urged greater awareness of Sayyeda Fatimah’s teachings and her courageous stances, asserting that reflecting on her exemplary life strengthens Muslims’ connection to the roots of their faith and the authenticity of its values.
