Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Abandonment Nullifies Ownership

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Hosseini al-Shirazi led another scholarly daily session on Saturday, 29^th of Rabi’ al-Thani, during which the Supreme Marja addressed various jurisprudential questions from attendees.

Regarding the use of fruits that the owner of an orchard does not utilize, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that if the orchard owner has abandoned those fruits and does not intend to sell or consume them, others may use them.

His Eminence further illustrated this point with an example: if someone has a torn carpet and places it outside, indicating their abandonment of it, others are permitted to use it.

He emphasized that abandonment indeed nullifies ownership.
